Instagram Makes It Easier to Get Verified in 2019

Haven’t we all always wanted to get that much coveted and talked about blue tick on our Instagram profile without having to go through the ordeal that follows in getting one? Before, you had to be a known personality, or have contacts or even had to resort to not so honest methods in order to get verified on Instagram. But now thanks to the new tools and features provided by the app it has made it much easier for users to get a tick.

Unfortunately, it doesn’t necessarily make it any easier to qualify for a blue tick, but it does make the process of requesting a little easier.

Open the Instagram app.
Tap the menu icon and select settings.
Then you have to choose ‘request verification’.

Now to complete the request you will need to provide your username, full name and also upload a photo of your personal or business ID.

Then you have can wait for a response from Instagram which you will be notified in the app itself. The details of how an account will be chosen to get verified are not disclosed but if you are not a public figure then the chances of you getting verified are quite slim.

Its also important to note that Instagram does not charge for verification or reach out personally to users, anyone who receives such requests may be the target of scammers.

Instagram has also announced new security features that are designed to give you more information about the accounts you follow. A new ‘About this account’ will provide information about accounts that have a strong social presence to help you determine if they are genuine or not.

Over the next few weeks, Instagram will also be rolling out support for two-factor authentication apps such as Duo Mobile to help secure account against unauthorized access.
